Green Post Workout Smoothie

I don't always use protein shakes but I do tend to take them with me on days that I know I'll be having an intense workout. Do I need it? I don't know. Maybe it's an old gym habit from when I was eating a Paleo diet and protein was everything. 
Now I focus on having either a meal, smoothie or juice that is heavily green after a workout.
Here is an example of what a smoothie might look like. You can add a protein powder or's totally up to you. All of these measurements are approximate and are for a single serving. At times I use the big blender attachment and make a huge smoothie that I drink before and after....and share.

1 cup frozen mangoes
Large handful of spinach
1 scoop protein powder (I used Vega Coconut Almond +greens, totally optional)
1 ripe banana
2 pitted Medjool dates
1 tsp chia seeds
Almond, cashew, soy milk or any dairy free variety. Coconut milk or water is good too. 
Pour to fill line. Blend her up for about 30 seconds.
I pour my smoothie into an insulated travel mug if I'm taking it to the gym with me. I personally like the Bubba brand. It keeps cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot.
There are endless possibilities for a smoothie like this. You can easily change up the fruits or greens to make something different each day. I'm kind of a creature of habit and don't mind the same thing each time.
