Rose Gold birthday cake with butterflies
My daughter asked me to make my granddaughter’s birthday cake. She also said I had complete creative oversight. Now that all is said and done, I can confess. My inspiration for this cake was a pair of BEATS earbuds that I bought said granddaughter for her birthday. What can I say… creativity works in mysterious ways.
It took some time to make all of the butterflies. I wanted them all to be different. I think I had them confused with snowflakes…
For the bottom tier I brushed glitter on until it shone bright rose gold. The middle tier (on the left below) I marbled the fondant. Using white and rose gold fondant, that I had tinted, I rolled them together then twisted, then rolled. It was quite pretty. For the top, I covered it in white fondant then using the back of a knife made grove around the cake by spinning it around and around.
