....if you want to.

It was my birthday a few days ago.

Some years I have cared less about cake and festivities. I'm usually just fine with quiet times at home with family and a home cooked meal. I don't fuss too much about cake and treats because my life has focused so much on celebrating with food over the years. Between raising seven children, endless numbers of birthday parties, event planning and designing and creating custom cakes....there's been a lot of cake.

This year I decided that I wanted to find the best vegan bakery in Toronto and get a girl some cake.

I think I found it.

Delicious, cute, responsible, natural, organic and thoughtful treats. Would I eat this EVERY day? No, you know I'm all about whole food. MOST of the time. But talk about filling the LOVE YOUR LIFE criteria for a day.

This small and very cute bakeshop is in on Queen East, in the Beaches. The staff was friendly and so helpful in my decision making about what I was going to leave there. Seriously, I think I said at one point that I should really just get one of everything.

Like, out loud.

I ended up with cupcakes, a huge cinnamon bun and a rich, delicious brownie. The cupcakes were standard sized but, as I said, the cinnamon bun was huge and the brownie was too. I was able to cut them in four so we could all share.

What I can say with certainty is that their cupcakes are the best I have ever tasted.

I will have to go back though. I didn't even get into their coffee yet. Or ice cream :)
